60 seconds with Cycling Chic - New Events

We asked some of the newest arrivals to our Rotorua Bike Festival team to tell us a bit about their event and a bit about them... Brett answers Megan's questions below about Cycling Chic, the new spin-off from the Big Bike Film Night.

What is the best thing about your event?
It captures the spirit of cycling whatever your ride is.

What sort of people do you think would most enjoy your event?
The 'Cycle Chic' collection is a new path for the Big Bike Film Night, with stories that will not only captivate but more importantly inspire our audience to get out and ride. Mountain bikers, dirt maidens, frockers and commuters will enjoy the collection alongside their partners. All ages and genders will connect with these short films.

What do you like most about being a part of the Rotorua Bike Festival?
They share variety of events that revolve around the humble bike. It's so cool!!

What is unique about your event that none of the other festival events has?
It's always been my vision to showcase a range of short bike films that inspire, encourage and celebrate women who love to bike. I had a sudden realization, (at 2am one morning), that the concept of 'Cycle Chic' is pretty unique and special. If I'm right, then this collection of short films dedicated to female bike riders is a world first/ debut/ premiere. Call it what you want- we are making history, here in New Zealand. (I have to have a caveat as there are some male co-stars in one or two of the films)

Is there anything else you would like everyone to know about your event?
'Cycle Chic' has been three years in the planning and the gathering. Good things take time.

Tell us a bit about you...
My name is Brett Cotter, there has been two constants in my life- bikes and my twin brother!! Living in Taupo I've been organising events for the Rotorua Bike Festival for three years now and have recently made the BIG decision to focus on touring these films around New Zealand full time, hard job but someone has to do it.

Who are the rad businesses supporting your event?
QE Health Spa and Wellness Centre, Groundeffect Cycling Clothing, Esk Valley Wines, Blue Dog Media, Timber Trail Lodge, Croucher Brewery, Good Graphic Design, Quality Print Taupo, Smith Coffee, Blend Cafe, Rituel, NZ Mountain Biker magazine, NZ Road Cyclist magazine.
