Why are you a Rotorua Bike Festival Proud Local?
I moved to Rotorua 7 years ago as I absolutely love the biking, community and lifestyle on offer, and as the festival is everything biking it would be hard not be a Rotorua Bike Festival Proud Local!
What have you enjoyed about the first two festivals and what would you say to people to get them involved?
I enjoy the diverse range of events and rides to join or watch…I guess the one thing that I would say is that it's for everyone, riding, watching, or just hanging out.
What events will you enter?
I will definitely be adding in some events over the week as I go.
There will also be a few events I will be out watching. Bike Speedway and Redwoods Coast are great spectator events.
What’s the best part of the Bike Festival for you?
Having so much on the go all week long with heaps of people around and about getting amongst it all.
What are your favourite places to eat and drink in town?
We are so lucky with some great places to name a few Zippies, Capers, Yamoto, Brew, Pig and Whistle and I always enjoy a Burger Fuel burger.
Basically, you cant go wrong down at Eat Street, with a great atmosphere and a range of places to select from.
What would your perfect Rotorua weekend be?
It would involve great weather, biking in good company, heading to a lake in the afternoon for a boat trip to attempt to wake board or for a swim and then have a soak in the hot pool…. I think good coffee and food would also fall in there!
What’s your favourite hidden hot spot in Rotorua?
Does the forest count? Hmmm, I guess Hot water beach at Tarawera is a bit more hidden and a great place to relax.
Aside from biking what do you do in Rotorua to relax and what do you do to get your adrenaline pumping?
The boat trip on Tarawera covers both of them - relaxing is covered off by Hot Water Beach and attempting to wakeboard covers off the adrenaline for the day.
